The Happily Ever After

Beryll and Osiris Brackhaus are a couple currently living their happily ever after in the very heart of Germany, under the stern but loving surveillance of their three black cats.

Both of them are voracious but picky readers, love telling stories and drinking tea, good food and the occasional violent movie. Together, they write novels of adventure and romance, hoping to share a little of their happiness with their readers.

Beryll

An artist at heart, Beryll was writing stories even before she knew what letters were. As easily inspired as she is frustrated, her own work is never good enough (in her eyes). A perfectionist both in the best and worst sense of the word and the driving creative force of their duo.

Osiris

An entertainer and craftsman in his approach to writing, Osiris is the down-to-earth, practical part of the duo. Broadly interested in almost every subject and skill, with a sunny mood and caring personality, he strives to bring the human nature into focus of each of their stories.

The Cat

Instead of another boring author portrait, here, have a picture of our cat Mila. She is far prettier than either of us anyway.

The Place

This is where we live - Kassel, right in the middle of Germany.

Yes, that Kassel where the Brothers Grimm gathered their famous fairy tales. Talk about 'terroir'. :)

Author FAQ

Q: Why do you write romance?
A: What else could we write about - Love is the greatest human adventure there is. Besides, we write in many different settings, we have historical romance, urban fantasy romance, high fantasy romance, science fantasy romance...

Q: Why do you write in English? It's not your native language, after all.
A: In a way, it's easier for us to write in English, maybe because we've read so many good English stories by now that our minds are convinced that this is the 'story telling language'. Also - much bigger audience.

Q: Will you be writing other German books after 'Lucia'?

A: We don't have any German books or translations planned, at least not now. We are currently focussing on writing new books. And as there are A LOT more readers for English books than for German ones, and it doesn't make a difference to us, it's only natural we will be writing in English for the time being.

Q: You are a straight couple. Why do you write non-straight romance?
A: Honest answer? It's fun. Sometimes even naughty fun. And who said anything about us being straight anyway?

Excerpt from our interview with 'leserkanone.de':
